Artist's Statement
When crafting each of my paintings, I aim to create art that is interactive and participatory. By incorporating reflective metal leaf and mica into my landscapes, I mimic the way light interacts with the environment. As viewers shift their position, the picture’s appearance visually changes, influenced by the angle of light in the room. Additionally, the viewer’s own reflection subtly colors the work, making it a personalized experience.
In my abstracts, I intentionally weave metallic elements to provide a dynamic dimension to each piece, inviting viewers to engage and interpret beyond the surface. By introducing reflective components into my abstract paintings, I offer a literal shift in perspective — depending on their surroundings, viewers see the artwork in varying lights.
Artist's Bio
Born and raised in the United Kingdom with a background in science, I found myself increasingly drawn to artistic expression. After redirecting my career toward design and the arts, I relocated to the United States, where I had the opportunity to study sculpture, jewelry design, and photography in San Francisco.
These experiences sparked my love for capturing landscapes and exploring how light and patterns work their magic in nature. While working as a photographer with a side practice in metalsmithing, I began creating landscapes using physical materials instead of just capturing them through a lens.
Over time, I developed unique techniques that mimic natural light environments through mixed media and metal, incorporating metalwork methods originally learned through jewelry design. I've been selling my work for several years now, but I'm always eager to grow, experiment, and create new pieces that excite me and others.
